$5.29 / Gal for Diesel in SoCal

I wrote about this Chevron gas station in my neighborhood once before and now I am convinced the owner is a crook. His prices went up 30 cents in the last 48 hours, even though has has not taken a diesel delivery in the past 5 days. Three other Chevron gas stations are on average 25 cents cheaper than he is and all are within a 3 mile radius.

Last week I went to fuel up and used my credit card. I got the pump authorization and pulled the handle to fuel, but the fuel delivery counter on the pump failed. A few clicks later and nothing. I walked inside and asked the "illegal alien" who barely spoke English what was going on and she pointed to the digital price billboard at the corner of the lot. Low and behold, the price went up 15 Cents right before my eyes and then she went on to tell me that the pump will fail to deliver during a real-time price change. The truck I was fueling has a 100 gallon tank and I realized that the 15 cent increase is going to cost me some coin. What really pissed me off though is at the point I swiped the credit card and it was approved, I felt that legally I had a contract for the cheaper price and it was not honored.

I knew I nothing was going to happen if I complained, so I decide to go on my merry way. Since then, I have instructed my construction crew (all six of them) to start taking their dumps at this local gas station. When they asked me why, I told them that the owner treated me like $hit and it was their turn to help me out. They all obliged.

I was going to that same place, I now go down the street. We should all boycott this guy and let him know we are going to do it. We could hurt his corner real bad, he has a nice place but he is playing games lately. We both know a lot of people here.

You could put in $0.25 or $0.50 worth of fuel - on the credit card, then leave and go elsewhere. It usually costs them more than that for the credit card transaction (use a VISA or MasterCard - not a gas company card)

'Not sticking up for this guy, but, it was explained to me that the reason the price goes up on fuel already in the station's tanks is because the station has to pay el cash-o for the NEXT load of fuel ... which (these days) will be be higher priced than the fuel on hand NOW...so, the station has to, in effect, "finance" the next load from the money rec'd at the pump for the LAST one. And, they're always a bit behind the actual cost curve when this is going on. That's why we see the prices being changed a hundred times a day when prices are going UP.

The reason price REDUCTIONS at the pump always LAG when fuel costs are coming DOWN is because the station is trying to recoupe some of the losses they encurred as the prices were going UP (remember, they were behind the curve as prices were going UP). So, they try to recover whatever money was lost by dropping prices at the pump a bit slower than THEIR costs drop.

At least that's how it supposedly works in theory.

We voted for the 435 morons that imposed this mess upon us.

HHGT,

I am a Chevron dealer and our wholesale cost has gone up $.30 in the last 48 hours. Most frustrating. Chevron does not refine any diesel fuel in their California refineries and thus they must trade for it from other oil companies. For this reason they are rarely competitive when it comes to diesel. My Chevron station sits directly across the street from a Shell Circle K that is retailing diesel for $4.45 per gallon. Chevron is currently charging me a wholesale cost of $4.70 per gallon. It's hard for me to be competitive when my wholesale cost is 25 cents above street retail. :thumbsdow :frown I am so angry I am about to bar my local Chevron representative from my premises. In the face of these monstrous price increases, our fuel volumes are seeing serious declines, credit card fees are going through the roof, and the profitability of most gasoline service stations has declined by 50% or more. This is certainly a good time to own an oil well, but it is the worst time in over a decade to be a gasoline service station dealer.

We voted in the morons that don't allow us to drill for any of our own oil, don't allow us to build any refineries, and don't allow any nuclear plant construction. When I saw news footage today of the same pompus, self righteous, economically moronic United States Senators who enacted the laws that caused this problem in the first place grilling oil company executives, it was all I could do to keep from hurling a brick through the television screen. God help us.

I did a google search on bio-diesel... there are some companies in my area that are selling it for $4.75..... They just suggest changing your fuel filter after the 1st tank because of all the gunk that is blown out.

Bio-diesel with my Hydrogen boost should = much improvement on gas mileage.... I would like to aim for 30+ mpg

???
