lot # 1004 just rolled off the auction block and sold for $150k. the buyer has to pay a 10% commission which means he really paid $165K for the car. the car was blue with white stripes and had the optional lightweight BBS wheels. i am not sure if it had the mcintosh stereo system or how many miles were on the car?

Further proof that Blue with White stripes will be the best long term Gal.

He could have bought an 06 virgin for $160.

Absolutely, BUT how many other 1 year old cars could hold 90% plus of their sticker? not taking into account commissions.

Obviously none of our brethren. Piccola said she went up front, but I didn't spot her. Our boys must be the heavy hitters waiting for tomorrow.

Doesn't the seller also have to pay 8%? If so, he only got $13889.00 for the car. :ack

That is correct, B-J whacks both buyer and seller. I do believe they raised it to 10% this year so that means the seller got 135k for the car not counting his expenses to get it there etc. Not a smart place to sell this type of car although down the road it might be a great place to sell one, let's say in 20 years or so.
P.S. Was that an '05 or an '06?

This year the buyer premium is 10%...seller 8%. A whopping 18% per car for BJ. Of course..there are negotiations that go on before the BJ takes place. They will reduce their % to get a particular car to the Auction.

"futuregtowner" & I were discussing this very point BEFORE the auction. I figured, since there was no "reserve", and - like you said - there were STILL "new" cars out there to be had, any "savy" bidder would "lowball" the 2 GT's at B/J BECAUSE of all that ... and the fact that a commission had to be added to the bid too.

The B/J route right NOW would just seem too soon in light of all the above. The seller'd be better off "net net" going some other route.

Go figger!!!!!!:shrug

The B-J car was an '05 with slightly over 2,000 miles. I was on the stage and overheard numerous envious comments about the car. This was a typical B-J result for a car like the GT. Gavel Price 150. Buyer pays 165. Seller receives 138. B-J makes 27. In other words, the Buyer overpaid, the Seller was underpaid and B-J was the only winner.

Well said KV. Man the buyer got hosed and the seller probably knew what he was getting in to.

Ugh!

Someone should write to Speed that they focus to much on the middle age guys with pot bellys and the freaky bidders asst's with hair extensions/toupees.

Really not an attractive crowd.

Its an auction, they should show the car!

That's why none of our brethren are showing up. Apparently Piccola without a skirt doesn't count either.
