Took her out for a 60 mile spin...never having driven one of these before.

So, she's everything I had hoped for and much, much more.

1) Way more cabin room than my Z06 (leave alone my Viper, which only squirrels can fit into)
2) Much more low end grunt than both the Z and the Viper. Power delivery never seems to end either. The GT spools very quickly and has very crisp throttle response. The Viper has no throttle response. The Z is closer to the GT, but not at all there. Overall shorter ratios on the GT have it in its powerband all the time, even while cruising moderately!
3) Handles the way I expected, with a moderate amount of oversteer, which I love, like the Viper. Not sure it handle like the Viper on a track...but I'll never be doing track with it anyway.
4) Sounds very angry and loud! Viper sounds like a tractor, Z is awesome, but the GT is cooler...could use a bit more blurble /popping on decel, but still sounds awesome.
5) GT is even more of a showstopper than my VVO tricked out Viper. People get out of cars to stop and take pics of the GT...and they still have no idea what it is. They ask if it's a racing car and why it's on the street. LOL

I could go on and on, but as my G/F said...I had a sh!t faced grin from ear to ear while driving this beast, and I guess that says it all.:thumbsup

I was not planning to do more than about 500 miles/yr on this car...and now wondering how I'm going to achieve that...given that I want to drive it all day long.:lol

For number 4, change out your exhaust. You will NOT be sorry. Opinions vary, but I've got the Heffner pipes with the Heffner pulley/tune etc, and absolutely LOVE the sound.

I too said I wasn't gonna drive mine much when I got it. Now it's my favourite car to take out. You planning on driving down to Utah this year for Rally VI?

Well Done. Only 60 miles? Still have snow on the roads up north?

Glad you and the G/F enjoyed it, and remember the pictures and questions never stop.

I have the exact same setup as you...and I do love the sound! All I was saying, is that I'd like a bit more popping and "blurble" on decel...like my Z06 does! Utah rally would be fun, but that's really much more mileage than I want to put on this car. Coming from Quebec, that's a hell of a drive, with no luggage space - LOL.

No snow left really - 60 miles only, because we had other things to do, unfortunately. Next time the GT goes out will be in a few weeks, and she'll get more mileage. I really just wanted to get some seat time in her - slowly, so as not to get too cocky with her. Just when I really started to have some real fun, I put her away...so...she'll rest up and get a ride again soon!

August 24-27 at Miller Motorsports Park in Utah. There's likely to be quite a group headed down from Edmonton, Calgary and of course you in the Hat. Plus I'm sure we'll pull in some of the BC guys and maybe even some of the Idaho/Washington gang along the road. Sure hope so anyway. Book it man!!!

Sounds like a great ride and agree with most all points. BUT, your Viper has no throttle response?? Better take it in and get it checked. I have had 7 and pretty darn good response. My 2010 Coupe with the new 5th gear is quite a ride.

On exhausts I have both the Heffner and Henessey and like both--maybe, just maybe the Heffner tad better but that is only my opinion. They are both great and MUCH better than stock.

What I mean - is that compared to my Z06 or the GT, whacking the pedal doesn't produce an instantaneous response, like the other 2 cars. It is sluggish and that's just the way that engine management is. I've driven several other Vipers and actually ordered a 2010, which I refused delivery of at the end of the day, but did take it out for a quick spin. Those V10's just don't have the pedal response of the smaller displacement 8's for some reason. Maybe a Mopar controller would change that - but it's not something I'm interested in doing now anyway. The Viper is as fast as anything in its class...but just doesn't have the snappy throttle or much low end grunt, when compared to the even a Gen III or a Z06/ZR1/GT etc...

I much prefer low end grunt that just stays on until redline - it's like my ZX14 that pulls like a banshee and snaps your neck from 2500-10,500. It never stops pulling and needs no spooling at all. Both the GT and my Z06 have that, but the Viper needs to spool. It's what makes that car so dangerous. It make less power under the curve than both of them. Peak HP/TQ just doesn't do it for me, unless they have a very fat curve under the top.

As far as exhausts go, I have the Heffner on the GT and I love it!

Welcome to the board! There're many of us here that also own Vipers and I so happen to own a 2008 SRT10 ACR also. The throttle response on the Viper should also be instantaneous and if not, there's something wrong. I heard some of the earlier '08's has some drive-by-wire issues that could be corrected easily so be sure to have that checked out. The SRT10 has 500+ ft-lb of torque down low and can pull hard all the way to redline so once you correct the throttle map, you'll discover a real beast lurking beneath. Now back to your GT, the burble and decel pops of the car is one of the things I love most about the car and I wonder why your car doesn't do much of that. Maybe your tune (if you have one) leans out the mixture too much??? Can anyone chime in?

Welcome aboard! I spent two week in Quebec City this last summer and loved it. Quebec is a beautiful area and Quebec City was a blast. Full of history and culturally vibrant. We were there during the big concert series downtown.

I will return!

I doubt this car has that issue - this is the actual car...fastest (bone stock configuration) quarter mile ever for any Gen Viper, and to date has not been beat. LOL

I bought his car with 300 miles on the clock and he did this with about 100 or so on it...it had never had a thing done to it, except for a Zero Altitude color matched center console.

Are you saying the the pedal response is as fast as the GT? The Viper's I have driven (including 2009/2010) all feel the same as mine...
