Catch up on the Impossible GT Project

I'm in awe. I've rebuilt an olde 911, but parts are available for that. I have a hard time even imagining how much you had to do from scratch. Bravo!

Original Goodyear Eagle tires- set of 4

Nah, put 'em on Bring a Trailer. Given what anything off a Ford GT has fetched recently, some fool might buy them for $4000. Some of the sales I've seen on BaT are just nuts.

First DIY Service on our GT - Advice?

Speaking of fuel filters: Has anyone tried back-flushing a filter and reusing it? I wouldn't ordinarily consider this, but if the parts are not available, ya do what ya gotta do.

Recommendations on shops that can install Ohlins TTX Coilovers in S Florida

Easy to do yourself, however if you're allergic to tools, any decent shop can do it. They don't have to be GT specialists. Ask around your area for a good shop that works on custom and race cars. However, if you are holding off buying them until you find the right shop, don't. Buy them now...

Hachi did some real quality work. Clicking on the "Watch on YouTube" link worked for me. Try this:

    Clutch oil leak

Hachi san: The "clutch oil" actually is brake fluid, not oil. If it leaks, you can identify it by smell and taste. Check the clutch reservoir to see if the level has gone down. If you are looking for maintenance to do while you have the car, flush the brake and clutch fluid, if they have...

    Bad Rear Lateral Links

Yes, I did them in August or thereabouts. I replied on your other thread too. No need to replace the bolts and nuts. They are not TTY.

    Rear Toe Link replacement

Tom, not necessary. They are not TTY. Clean and reuse the original ones and torque to spec. I have taken mine out several times to clean and lube the joints and replace the deteriorating boots.

I also am very interested in what happened to your piston. Failures in these engines are very rare.

    engine noise

Hachi san, That helps us understand context. At less than 5000 miles, there should not be any appreciable wear on any of the components (except possibly the rear tires!). I’ve been traveling, so it took me awhile to get back to this message.

New Batch of 10 sets of Ahlman Performance Ohlins TTX Coilovers to Purchase

I recommend you do it the other way around: upgrade the suspension amd tires first, then add power. Otherwise you will have a harder time controlling it. You can search for my comments on Scott’s shocks—all positive—and my comments on setting them softer for street driving. I have about...

Fuel filter, brake fluid and power steering fluid

DOT 5.1 is even higher boiling point. Most FLAPS sell it. I bought the Pentosin sold by NAPA. Look on the label--higher boiling point is better. DOT3, DOT4, and DOT5.1 are all compatible. DO NOT use DOT5. It is silicone based and not miscible with the others.

Racing the GT - is it capable ?

Ditto, even though mine is a 1973. You can buy practically any part for 50 year old Porsches, even if you crunch every panel on the body.

Racing the GT - is it capable ?

Lots of mods. Very little of the original GT is left. different body exterior panels, different suspension, different engine (not supercharged) and trans, etc.

    Mighty Heritage

Two data points almost simultaneously. Let's see what others bring before we call it a comp. And will that extend to other colors? Ehh, I'm still driving mine. At 90K, it ain't ever gonna be a museum piece. Like my 1973 911, which has almost no rust damage, it doesn't have the original...
