    New tire tech

I run Bridgestones at 26. I arrived at that figure because I could see that the tire was crowning at 30 (center was higher than the edges) so I lowered the pressure to minimize it.

Small hydraulic fluid leak from aero flap mechanism

I suspect it's all a question of demand and manufacturing cost. Ford isn't covering itself with glory making replacements available for the 05-06 cars. An antique/classic motorcycle restorer in the UK has the motto that "what man has made, man can make again" which is true, but I think making...

Small hydraulic fluid leak from aero flap mechanism

I think parts will get much more difficult to get in 5-6 years after production stops. If some 05-06 parts are now unavailable, I believe that's a hint about the future availability of parts for a much rarer (and much more complicated) car.

Our one and only Rich Robeck on a podcast interview...

Rich did the PPI on my car in 2012. A very nice interview, too. I'm going to have to look to see if mine is one of the ones he initialed (3:30 left during the interview).

Speedometer failure right after airbag recall. - Coincidence?

I replaced all my gauges and their panel with the Speedhut gauges and panel years ago. It's important to note that although Speedhut gauges can fail, the company honors their warranty and in addition, the last time I looked, their gauges are much less expensive than Ford replacements (by at...

Small hydraulic fluid leak from aero flap mechanism

Although I don't own a new GT, I can't help but wonder what is going to happen to future parts supplies for it. There are now unobtainium parts for the 05-06 cars, and they made more than 4000 of those. What will parts availability look like for the new one in 10 years?

    Bridgestone replacement source

Thank you! I do not drive the car when it's below 45 and try not to drive it below 50 F, but during winter here in the Willamette Valley we have occasional dry road days between 45-50 and I like to get the car out at least once a month. Your comments are helpful.

    Bridgestone replacement source

Very interesting! Can you comment on tire behavior at or below 50 degrees F? Is loss of tire traction at those temps etc linear or does it follow a different curve? Thanks!

I tested POSITIVE for the Covid-19 Virus.. recovering.. 71st birthday today.

Glad to hear you're better. And thanks very much for the heads up about the virus, it is no joke and the closures are necessary, notwithstanding the folks who think it's "just the flu".

New Source for Clamshell & Bonnet Gas Struts

I just put my new front struts on. They fit OK and are not difficult to install, as Kendall wrote. I worked them cautiously up and down a few times to make sure all was OK, and it was. However, there are three additions I would make to the instructions: 1) if your original struts are weak, the...

Francis: I was sure this was going to be necessary. As you know, we left Paris just in time to miss the flight ban. Our best to you both and be safe. David

Hi Kendall (and Ryan): What will payment/shipping procedure be? Will you notify us with the details etc, or do we have to contact you at Cooltech?

    Used Parts Vendors

It's true that there aren't huge numbers of them. However, since someone else suggested years ago doing this, I have been keeping a running list. So far it's almost a full page and includes 26 items. I haven't bothered to post them because there was little interest in cooperating to create such...

Ford GT Billet parts now available again. End of the year special on Top & side vents

I bought a set of these a few years ago and they are wonderful. However, if they are like mine, you should expect to have to spend some significant time cleaning up machining marks etc before sending them out to paint. If you do that, they will be undetectable from the cheesy plastic vents they...

    Used Parts Vendors

What would be more helpful would be a spreadsheet showing crossover parts, that is, parts that were used on other vehicles too. They are often much less expensive than "GT" parts and sometimes much easier to get.
