    2005 oil pump drive belt

Isn’t there an old thread about this? I got mine from a Ford dealer ( with proofof GT ownership) but I’m sure that someone had sourced an appropriate belt from an industrial source

    Top Gear 2018

If you’re missing the originals, don’t bother with ‘Grand Tour ‘ (last one was crap), but tune in to ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ which is brilliant and pure Jeremy

Trickle charger for a 05 GT

I run a Ceetek through the lighter port, it's more convenient than the pigtail in the nose

Fuel Filler Fix - solution found and engineered

Given that Ford is the only one with this kind of "clever filler" I'm guessing that a trip to a friendly ford parts department with the old ring will yield a similar one from another model. The GT used all kinds of parts from F150s, Expeditions etc, so that gasket may have come from somewhere...

    stock clutch versus aftermarket...

Follow a GT with aftermarket clutch in stop and go traffic and you can enjoy watching the car bucking and shuddering each time it sets off! FWIW, I have stock clutch, 682rwhp, many miles, no issues

    Severe wheel hop issue

Not seeing any diff struts. I put IRS in my Vette-engined Mk2 Jaguar, based on an XKE unit. These are notorious for wheel hop, so I ran tubular adjustable struts either side of the front of the differential that run up to an anchor point on the frame.

How much would you pay a friend to check out a car?

Why not pay a professional? The guy that bought an 06 I had sent someone who was unbelievably thorough, he spent the entire day poring over the car and took about 1500 paint thickness measurements. A friend's inspection can be great (thanks Indy, thanks Terry!) But is it worth being cheapo on a...

New headlights for 2005/6MY Ford GT

For what it's worth,my old McLaren headlights crapped out. New units were going to be $4500, but the dealer carefully unglued all the bits, repaired/rebuilt as necessary and reassembled for less than half that price. The final product was indistinguishable from new.

New Ford Issues straining my life long loyalty

Ditto! Maybe a late '24 delivery so that will be a nice round 5 year wait. Also being told 15 month wait on a new Rangerover.....

    ClearPlex on windshield

My local PPF installer stopped doing it on the new GTs because the glass cracks so easily. He did mine no problem but bust two others

    Shelby AC Cobra Advice

I had an ERA for years with a 427FE. Visually, the ERA is an exact copy of the real thing and this gives plusses and minuses. They are beautiful quality and the newer ones use bespoke suspension (older cars had e.g. jag suspension). Legroom is a problem if you are tall. Most of the other fakes...

    '05 AC dead

I think the compressor power supply has a breaker? When I ran mine in the Big Bend road Race a few years ago the A/C stopped blowing cold halfway through the race. I had to disconnect the battery for some reason and when I reconnected it everything was back to normal. It's worth a try!l

    The Price of XPEL

That is a crazy price: I had my 2019 GT full-wrapped including clearplex on the windshield for $6K, and got a full wrap on my 2020 GT500 for $6K including a black vinyl roof

Jacking pucks to lift FGT to change tires

I use the b post method every time. As far as balancing, weirdly the rears seem more sensitive than the front. I always use a road force balance machine. Think I'm on my seventh or eighth set of rears, third set of fronts, and no issues jacking way high via the b post lift point

Is this normal for a high mileage car

When I sold my 1100 miles totally unmolested black/silver car,the purchasing inspector took literally thousands of paint thickness readings. They were all over the place. At least as far as GTs go, wide variations in thickness is no indicator of rework, just reflective of the factory process.

Had a Saab when we lived in Oslo. Funky cars with the ignition key between the seats. Great in the snow!

Is this normal for a high mileage car

My car has 62K+ miles and is chipped up to hell, plus side scoops are sand blasted down to the plastic on the leading edges. No PPF on my car, I will do what Ajai did at some point - send it for a full refresh. However, like wrinkles on a face, the blemishes are a sign of a life well-lived!
