Source for TRUNK lid gas struts?

Yes, I've bought parts from them too. As with other dealers, they don't stock GT parts, but Bill says there will be more available soon. That is good news. "I don't stock them but they are still available. But they are on backorder until 6/6/19."

Removing wheel covers on standard wheels

@Sinovac is too modest to post this removal tool for stuck caps that he manufactured.

Source for TRUNK lid gas struts?

No photo needed. I get this. Great idea Brian. Two for the clamshell, but I'll bet one would do it for the trunk lid.

Source for TRUNK lid gas struts?

Tasca does not stock any GT parts. They order them from the warehouse like every other dealer does. Their website lets you order parts that don't exist. Someone reported a few weeks ago that after waiting since February for Tasca to deliver his order, they told him the struts are discontinued...

Source for TRUNK lid gas struts?

Mine are dead. Out of gas. Trunk lid will not stay open. The Ford part 4G7V-16C826-AA (or newer part 5G7Z-16C826-A) is discontinued, without a replacement part. The nomenclature on the strut is: Suspa Liftline TYP16-1 01612266A 200N 18/06 I have scoured all the suppliers I could find...

    Battery stuck

That bolt compresses a small wedge against the bottom of the battery. Reach down there and give the wedge a tap. It may be wedged! Alternatively, more pressure on the battery. It's just sitting in a box. Perhaps the physical dimensions of the Die Hard are not exactly the same as the Optima. It...

Minimum Garage Ceiling Height for a lift

The jack screw (side mount) opener will get the door rails within a couple of inches of the ceiling. The door rides above the rails, so you need space for it. And you need to clear your light fixtures. You could recess them. I have $800 in my head for when D&D did mine six years ago. That may...

    Coolant Drain

For the techno-geeks and DIYers, a cool video on making an induction heater. Even if you just buy one, some good info on how it works and what you can and cannot heat with it (ferrous yes, non-ferrous no, except with a specialty heater). Interesting too is short circuit risk (sparks!) with...

Minimum Garage Ceiling Height for a lift

I have 10' 6". With the Bendpak HD-9 at maximum height (as in photo), there is 4" clearance above the GT with door open (2nd photo). Jackscrew opener lets you get the rails close to the ceiling. The clearance under the rear ramps (which are locked "up") is 63". If you let the ramps droop, you...

    Coolant Drain

@MAD IN NC Is it possible that your block plugs had been removed before? Thread locker seal already broken? How much additional coolant came out of the block? What's a "grate?" No bleeder on the supercharger radiator?

A good slap for misbehavior. I just had the splitter off to drain coolant and I did not see access to the headlamp assemblies from underneath. Not saying it can't be done, but I couldn't even see the lamps.

@spartan and @Sinovac, he said turn signal, not side marker. Pull the fender liner, which involves some push pins and brute strength. Assuming you are certain it is the bulb (the indicator fast blinks and the hazard also does not work). If hazard works and turn signal does not, then you have to...

    Coolant Drain

I don't recall my temp gauge ever going over 210-215, and that was on the track at high rpm. In traffic here it's 175-180 with the AC on, 185-195 with AC off. Many overheating problems are a result of air trapped in the system. I used the Motorcraft coolant to ensure compatibility, since it...

    Coolant Drain

Yes to the OEM coolant. The manual calls for suffix A, which is no longer made. Suffix B contains a bittering agent (denatonium benzoate - "one of the most bitter substances known to man"), intended to discourage anything or anyone from drinking sweet coolant. No to any other additives. I've...

    Coolant Drain

I had 1/4" ID tubing, which is a bit too small for the radiator drain. I softened the end with a heat gun and it stretched enough for a good fit. The other end was a bit too large for the brake bleeder, but a small hose clamp took care of that. The Airlift works by the same principle as the...

    Coolant Drain

Couple of possible issues with the induction heater method. One, there is not room to get the coils flat against the block. Two, the induction is inside the coils and the plug is essentially flush with the block. If you watch the video, the bolt head is inside the coils. So, most of the heat is...

    Coolant Drain

I swapped tubing, attached it to the drains and sucked out another three gallons total. Open bottle caps. Leave bleeder bottle on to start the flow. Once flow starts, unscrew bleeder bottle and continue draining into bucket. After a while, you'll start sucking air and coolant. You can stop then...
