Sell the GT ????
Sell the GT ???? Well....not really. I do not plan on leaving the GT community or the forum (you guys). Here’s the deal, 20 years ago I started buying performance cars like a non turbo Porsche Carrerra and Porsche 928, Corvette, etc. Since those I have owned performance sedans like BMW, Merc. and Toyota Camry (just seeing if you’re paying attention on that last one.:biggrin We do have a Camry in the family.) Then I buy the Heritage Ford GT (We buy. Mrs. Moose loves this car and was very involved in the purchase since we would be, in her words, "sharing the driving" to which I replied, "OK, I'll drive it the first 100,000 miles then it's your turn.” I have learned to step back quickly when my mouth opens before I think.) I wanted a balance of GREAT to look at, FUN to drive and a LOT to talk about. None of the other cars I have owned performed like the Ford GT. And since I didn't see this car or drive it before I (sorry, We) purchased it, I didn't expect it to be so much more fun. Inside and out, the Ford GT is a gorgeous gal and in the Heritage colors, I think it’s at its best. I like this GT looking factory fresh with all the stickers and markings (though I did have to pull the side window stickers off to see). I like that look of perfectly restored cars and had planned to keep the GT this way and drive it very little. I have so far, but here in AZ we have great driving conditions year around. We have only 2 seasons, warm and warmer, mostly clear with very little rain. So, for me, part of owning this car is that it is a piece of art, but to drive this GT like I found I want to, in all kinds of weather, would be like hanging your Camilo original painting outside, exposed to the elements! Now, I think that after reading that statement those of you who have raised your eyebrows, uttered a loud gasp and are screaming “NEVER!” will understand where I am coming from. I am not going to give the GT away. If I get the sales price I will buy another GT to replace it; an ’05 with miles and then I’ll drive it! If I don’t sell it then I have no problem with that and will stick with the rarely driven plan and buy another high performance car like a Z06, Viper etc. to drive. They are not better cars, just different. Buy a 2nd GT? No, we can get 4 cars + toys in the garage and always have a variety. I envy you guys with space for more than one GT. Owning the GT is like a country club membership where people like Saleen, Millen, Shelby and builders of the GT like Pardo, Goodnow, Ewing, Hameedi, Theodore, Roback, McGowan and owners like you guys hang out. And we’ve really enjoyed all the events we got to do because we own this car. Give that up, NEVER. I want to always own a GT. In an interview at Rally 1 I was asked “You have a trophy wife, and a trophy car, what’s next?” I said “the trophy case is full and life is good”.:thumbsup
