I was wondering if it is possible to fit a 13 inch wide wheel on the back of the GT any one got a set on ? also any brands that fit would be a help . Thanks Bill
There is a test car running a set of 19D X 13W rear wheels and 18D X 10W front wheels on a 2006 Ford GT. The tires are 345/30 Michelin Pilot ZP Rears and 275/35 Michelin Pilot ZP Fronts. The wheels are made by HRE for The Humagen Group of Companies Automotive Systems Engineering Division. They are forged 6061 T-6 Aluminum, and use Alcoa 6AI-4V Titanium Aircraft retaining hardware. As I understand, you can also mount up standard tires instead of ZP tires. They are currently testing the setup, including alignment modification recommendations and clearance geometry, prior to releasing the wheels for sale. Camber adjustment is apparently necessary to facilitate the contact footprint of the wider tires on the wider rims. They have some information and pictures on their web site, and will be posting more as the testing is completed. I heard the Titanium Fasteners add $2000 to the retail price of the wheels, but save around 1.25+ pounds per wheel (the larger wheels and tires weigh more than stock combination). Word is the wide wheel/tire combination looks unbelievably aggressive, particularly from the rear.
