Thanks bud, well most of Dubai doesn't look like that, haha. Most of it is covered in sand and definitely not so lush and green. These are taking in a very nice neighbourhood near a golf course.

One thing I noticed that you mentioned before. There is a ton of construction going on in that skyline. I don't think I have ever seen so many big cranes in one place.

Haha thanks, yeah I totally agree, I think the GT could make a garbage dump look good!
I wish that was my front yard! It's just a little area next to the gate to the community and right near the golf course.

Yeah totally, and the crazy thing is, that isn't even a busy area for construction by Dubai standard. Just nuts over here.
it's 790 degrees over there, and they have more money than sand, and the country is full of sand, sorry for the hijack, that white GT looks very nice :cheers

Dubai had 40% of the worlds crane fleet a few years ago...it is incredible to see how it has developed. I'm sure the other 60% were in miami...:biggrin

'You & skyrex been in 'Vegas at all lately? (Ya, I know, 'rex - YOU have!:biggrin) All one sees in any direction are cranes. In fact, the last 2 times wifey & I stayed at Sam's favorite hotel (The Wynn:lol) there were 2 or three across the side street at the Palazzo, and across The Strip (and to the N.W.) there were 2 cranes set up at the Trump bldg as well. Not to mention a batch of 'em down at the City Center site (or whatever they call that place).
...and 'Vegas is supposed to be in a construction/financing SLUMP?:shrug

Pockets, rumor has it that the Venetian III is well on its way and they will start selling properties starting at $1,000 per sq. foot. Rumor also has it that the Wynn have jacked up all their rates to raise enough $ to complete Encore.
I may also be in Dubai in January, so I'll take a crane inventory....:willy:willy:willy

'Not too sure about that, Sam. I just got a "come hither" email from The Wynn TODAY (5 hours ago in fact) offering our usual room for about $200 LESS than "normal". (Admittedly, this was AFTER I cancelled our reservations in Sept 'cause, AS YOU JUST STATED, they actually did RAISE that same room rate by $200 - AT THAT TIME.
So, while I know for sure (personal experience) that WAS the case a few weeks ago, it doesn't look like it's the case now. (At least for us, ah-hummmm, "regulars".)
But, who the heck really knows?

Some of those cranes are going to be there for awhile. The Echelon project (where the Stardust used to be) was halted after 8 floors and 500 million spent. Ouch. And supposedly the final phase of the City Center is having couple of issues too.
I still make my donations :beer2: with my monthly pilgrimages to Vegas, but it is going to take a lot more than Skyrex dollars to turn that puppy around. Lot of good deals around, and it is still Vegas. Always a good time. :biggrin
