Ok, my guess is they are not finished with selecting and approving the dealers and the agreement with them on how the new GT will be sold. Maybe also what options will be available on the Launch Edition GT.

Guessing this must be completed before they can unleash a bunch of crazy happy applicants into the wild trying to find a dealer and make their purchase. The logistics and paperwork on this must be overwhelming.

Hope it's happens soon... :thumbsup

Gentlemen, correct me if I'm wrong but dealers have no play in the sale of the new car. Ford decides and WE select the participating dealer we want the car delivered to.

That is right. However, the dealer must agree to Ford's terms for training , service, etc, to participate in the new GT program.

Price negotiations are between the "authorized customer and the authorized Ford dealership".

I told my dealer that if I am a crazy applicant winner and they sell it to me..they owe me a Ford bicycle. They told me the logistics and paperwork on a Ford bicycle was to overwhelming and I would have to get the bike somewhere else but they would sell me the car. Know anyone with that bike with low mileage...Jerry???

So we negotiate the price with the dealer? I thought we paid a set price as defined by Ford if we are one of the chosen few worthy of her.

I knew the original plan sounded too good to be true. Here come the ADMs. Just like some small dealers charged for the "program fee" on early GT500s, Boss 302 and GT350s.

Awaiting DBK to clear this up!!! I DO NOT think dealers will be able to add on ADMs!! This has nothing to do with dealers!!

I agree... I think we have some bad information here. Not sure where it is all coming from.

Boy I hope so! We really do not need a level of greed to be layered in here! I believe the Ford guys will do the right thing for us. We are anxiously awaiting!

First and foremost Ford wants these cars to be driven, not collected. Just as Raj told us at the PDC gathering.

I have faith that Ford is putting together a well thought out program that will be completely satisfactory and it will be fair for the buyer and the dealer.

And until the application process is published, and the Ford dealer program is in place…everything else is pure speculation. There seems to be a lot of permutations of "past practices" of things like ADM's that were prevalent for the 2005's being bantered about on this forum and others.

So I hope this all be completed very soon.

eAnd to quote Awsum GT '" The logistics and paperwork on this must be overwhelming". Amen to that.

How did we even get to this discussion? Let me reiterate what Raj stated at Rally 10, and what Global Ford Performance Communication Manager Paul Seredynski specifically told me after the announcement:

1. The car is assigned to the customer.
2. The car is assigned to the customer by Ford.
3. The car is delivered to a certified dealer of the customer's choice.

The allocation belongs to the customer. Read between the lines.

Regarding the application delay, it would be fair speculation to say that it's just a matter of IT and logistics.

Soon.

Thanks for the Update Dave,

The process is outlined here in case some of you forgot the details or haven't seen it before.

My take: The commercial agreement is between Dealer and Buyer. Allocation is only that a car will be available for you to buy.

I'm no Franchise Law expert by any stretch of the imagination but I am skeptical Ford can come between the final commercial agreement between dealer and buyer. To me this is a form of price fixing with anti-trust implications. Being a MI resident, home of the auto industry, I am sure the MI Dealer Franchise Laws are very strict. But, I could be wrong.

Any Franchise Law specialists out there care to chime in?

I am quite sure that the ford legal team knows the rules regarding dealer agreements and that this was already resolved months ago before any statement was made regarding how the process would proceed.
