Stupid Newb Needs Help Please!

I tried to find the answer to this by searching for it but I guess no one is as stupid as me. I also tried to find an owners manual online to help answer my question but no luck.

I finally brought my GT home today, after shipping it from the States to here in Dubai. It was a huge pain in the ass, it took almost 5 months to get here and when I got her here I had to take her to the shop because she got damaged along the way.

Anyways back to my question. HOW THE xxx DO I OPEN THE BLOODY LUGGAGE HATCH IN THE FRONT!?

I would just check the manual but I think it is in the luggage hatch, or they didn't send it.

I tried using the button on the key but it does nothing. The light that come on when a door is open is on even though all the other doors are closed. I tried jamming my fingers under there and lifting it but it only lifts an inch and I tried finding a clasp to push like on the back hatch but I couldn't find one.

It's been a long day and it is now 12:30AM here and my brain, which barley works on a good day, is just completely shut down at the moment.

Thanks guys,

T

Drivers side, there is a key hole on the fender and you pull up on the silver handle just at the rear of the fender. Manual should have been in the net behind the passenger seat. Good luck!

TRS, easiest way is with the remote on the keyring. Just press the button with the icon that has the open trunk on it. Otherwise, without remote, go to drivers side front fender. Put ignition key into keyhole under the silver lever, turn key about 1/4 turn, hold, pull up on silver lever gently, front trunk should pop open. You may need to use left hand to open while silver lever is still pulled.

Gas cap on the other side of car works the same way. You will probably need to stick fingernail under silver gas cap lid to start it opening. Frank

DBK gave you the right answer. The light is on because the luggage door is probably partially open. Good luck. PD

I hope the key does the trick for you. Make sure the battery is fully charged then test the key button again. One of them should open the trunk. On my GT the key button worked, but the latch never did. Got the latch mechanism replaced under warranty.

The key fob will NOT open it is it is AJAR (not closed ALL the way). The only way to open it if it is not fully closed is with the key hole and lever that DBK mentioned. Good luck! What color car did you get? What damage happened and how if you dont mind sharing.....

Even I didn't know that the Key fob would open the trunk. I've always used the key manually. Something new for me to try out tonight! :thumbsup I'm soooo old school.

Man, I really can't believe I didn't figure that one out. Shows that I have been way to busy and have way too much on my mind.

Thanks guys, I got in there and found the owners manual, but I still can't find the other set of keys. :frown

Thanks bony, so am I.

shelbyelite: I got white with blue stripes. I fell in love with the color after I saw one driving down the freeway a couple years back.

As for the problems I shipped the car with DAS auto shippers and that was a huge mistake. I actually shipped two car and the damages on the GT where nothing compared to the other one. I actually expect to get my full ocean insurance paid to me or a bran new car plus compensation for my wasted time and if not then I'll be taking them to court and I never loose. :biggrin

But that's another story.

First it took me 5 months to get the cars from the time DAS got a hold of them. Bloody ridiculous.

Next, I opened up the shipping container the car had the windows open with no car cover on, instead the car cover was sitting in the front seat in a bag. So the whole inside of the car was covered in dirt. It was a huge mess and I had to have that cleaned profesionaly. That was from all the dirty water condensing on the roof of the shipping container and "raining" all over my car.

Then one of the inside panels came off but that was because of the insane heat over here I believe.

Next the rear bumper was out of place, which really confused me. I have no idea how that happened. I took pictures of the car when I flew to Chicago before purchasing and the pumper was fine then.

The other damages where the front passenger wheel and the rear drivers side wheel.

Not big problems at all but still, not exactly the way you want to receive you car.

Now everything is fixed or replaced so she is looking brand new once again.

I'm glad to finally have her home. We will have to see how she handles living in this insanely hot country. I know my Canadian/American body sure doesn't like it too much. Hopefully she does better.

DAS is the WORST! I just want to go on record and say that. I used them about 3 years ago and it was a nightmare! I will NEVER use them again. Even if it was FREE!!! I shipped a really nice Sema show jeep to a customer in california. When the jeep arrived, the stereo, amps, and subs were all gone! We contacted them and found out that after the car was picked up, it was dropped at a storage yard for a few days (this was not disclosed to us) and they said, "SORRY, but we are not responsible for your loss, even though it did occur in our posession".

Since then I have made it a point to tell everyone that ask or mentions their name that they are the worst I have ever dealt with.

.......sorry for my rant, but I REALLLLLLLY hate DAS, AKA DEPENDABLE AUTO SHIPPERS (HA, WHAT A JOKE!)

Yeah I agree guys, 150%. I can't even begin to describe how upset I am with DAS. Hell they wouldn't even answer a single email or phone me back for over 3 months. There was one sales girl who was actually very helpful though if it wasn't for her I probably still wouldn't have either cars.

shelbyelite, don't worry about ranting, you don't want to get me to start talking about these idiots because I'll rant all freaking day. I agree, I really, truly hate them as well.

I was going to air freight the GT, looking back, I really should have gone that root.

I am prepared! I will post my knowledge of this company ANYWHERE! I only speak the truth. I wish others would have warned me. Could have saved me alot of aggrivation and money. From what I have seen, DAS does not care about their reputation anyway. :thumbsdow

Thanks bony, and I agree but I assure you I can certainly defend myself in this case and then some.

Ditto to what shelbyelite said, about this being all my views and no one else including the forum.

I've already used the key fob to open my trunk about 1/2 a dozen times so far since this thread came up! Thanks to all! I love it! :cheers

Shelby, you are now ready for the "Trunk Olympics," and see just how far away from the car the trunk will open with the remote.
